Le Directeur Général, General Manager QU


This critical managerial position will be responsible for locations at both Shawinigan and Saguenay.
The General Manager is responsible for all day to day operations of facility and shall direct and coordinate the activities of all departments that are concerned with the production, pricing, sales and distribution of products. He/she will also cooperate with and assist the accounting department in the completion of its duties through a joint reporting arrangement with the corporate controller.


Key Position Responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.

• Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.

• Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives and procedures, conferring with the executive members, management team and staff as necessary.

• Understand, implement and enforce the safety program.

• Determine staffing requirements and oversee the interview, hiring and training of new employees with the assistance of the corporate human resources department.

• Monitor third party business and suppliers to ensure that they are efficiently and effectively providing the needed services and supplies while staying within budgetary limits.

• Oversee activities directly related to the manufacture and supply of products.

• Oversee activities directly related to the sales and marketing of goods and services.

• Direct and coordinate with the accounting department the annual sales, manufacturing, administration and capital budgets in such a way as to maximize the long term profitability of the organization.

• Determine the type and scope of products to be manufactured and sold and set pricing in accordance with budget guidelines.

• Manage the movement of finished products and materials in and out of the facility, with a keen focus on inventory management.

• Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.

• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

• Enhance the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

• Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.


Required Technical Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:

• Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineer an asset

QUALIFICATIONS

• Deep knowledge and expertise in managing a large, complex print manufacturing facility.

• Demonstrated experience / ability in consistently meeting and exceeding financial targets.

• Proven ability to manage numerous multiple priorities and tasks effectively.

• Ability to think and plan strategically, while also being able to oversee the day‐to‐day tactical execution of actions within the business.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills throughout all levels of the organization.

• Bachelor’s degree and or at least 10 years of managerial experience in a print, sales, engineering, or maintenance role in a large‐scale manufacturing environment.

• Highly computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office, along with SAP or equivalent ERP applications. Also beneficial to have experience with traditional graphic design and publication tools and applications.

• Positive Customer service experience, including negotiation skills – must have a passion and an unflinching desire to always do what’s right for them.
